Buon Giorno, Dear Travelers!

We have the most wonderful program arranged for the “heel of Italy” with Puglia’s top historical and cultural guide Lucia. You’ll enjoy most meals included, unique accommodations at a masseria (farm estate) and a palace, and our private coach and driver.

Apulia or Puglia – however you choose to say it – is the bountiful heel of the boot of Italy. Still relatively undiscovered by the tourist set, it retains the cultural charm of the simple life combined with a rich historical heritage inherited from the Normans, Pisans, Romans and Greeks.

We’ll meet Lucia and our driver in Bari and explore the southeast along Italy’s heel. During our moderately active tour, we’ll take walks through medieval sites, following cobblestone paths that have worn through centuries of use by diverse civilizations. We’ll descend into a grotto, explore cave-houses and rock hewn churches and discover a cathedral crypt. We’ll even visit three UNESCO world heritage sites: Matera (One of the Cultural Capitals of Europe in 2019), Castel del Monte and the Trulli of Alberobello! Expand your Italian experience - complete with a pasta-making and focaccia cooking class.

If your roots are in South Italy, if you savor art and history, or if you share a love for all things Italian, then come with us on this very special cultural visit.

Two of the features of this special tour are our select accommodations and fine dining. At the masseria and at the palace, we will only be able to hold our confirmed space until early January. As of now we have rooms confirmed for you, but please reply very soon.

Ciao,

Gwen Erwood
